A REVIEW STUDY ON ROLE OF VITAMIN B1, B6, B12 DEFICIENCY CORRECTION IN DIABETIC NEUROPATHY MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT
Diabetic neuropathy is a prevalent and debilitating complication of diabetes, characterized by progressive nerve damage that leads to symptoms such as pain, tingling, and numbness, primarily in the extremities. Effective management strategies are crucial for alleviating symptoms and improving quality of life. Recent studies highlight the significance of vitamin B1 (thiamine), B6 (pyridoxine), and B12 (cobalamin) in nerve health, emphasizing their potential role in diabetic neuropathy management. Deficiencies in these vitamins can exacerbate nerve damage due to their involvement in nerve metabolism, myelin synthesis, and neuroprotection. This review explores the mechanisms through which these vitamins contribute to nerve function, examines clinical evidence on the benefits of correcting deficiencies in diabetic patients, and evaluates their use as adjunctive therapies in neuropathy management. By synthesizing data from recent trials and studies, this review underscores the importance of comprehensive vitamin B supplementation as part of a multimodal approach to manage diabetic neuropathy effectively. Further clinical trials are recommended to optimize dosage and combinations for maximizing therapeutic outcomes.
