Abstract
FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF TEA BAG OF DRIED CRUDE DRUGS AGAINST HYPERLIPIDEMIA:A PRELIMINARY STUDY

Akash Kumar* and Aaliya Naaz

ABSTRACT

The formulation and evaluation of herbal tea bags represent a promising strategy for addressing hyperlipidemia, a
condition characterized by elevated lipid levels in the blood and increased cardiovascular risk. In this study 20
samples of herbal tea bags were meticulously analyzed using various evaluation parameters. These parameters
included color, aroma, flavor, weight variation, solubility, burning test, and UV spectroscopy. Sample no. 20,
comprising a blend of herbs emerged as the most promising formulation across all evaluation tests. The UV
spectroscopy analysis confirmed the presence of specific chemical constituents within acceptable ranges for each
herb, providing valuable insights into the quality and composition of the formulations. The comprehensive
evaluation demonstrated that sample 20 exhibited superior characteristics, suggesting its potential efficacy and
safety in managing hyperlipidemia. The findings of this study lay the foundation for further research into the longterm
efficacy and safety of herbal tea formulations for cardiovascular health. Future studies may explore
optimized formulations, dosage regimens, and clinical trials to validate the effectiveness of herbal tea bags as a
complementary or alternative approach to conventional lipid-lowering therapies. Overall, this research underscores
the potential of herbal tea formulations as a natural intervention for managing hyperlipidemia and reducing the
risk of cardiovascular diseases.
