ABSTRACT
Within the framework of therapeutic plants valorization from Côte d'Ivoire, Nelumbo nucifera used in traditional medicine to handle diverse pathologies was studied. Phytochemical screening using TLC revealed the co-presence of, alkaloids, coumarins, flavonoids, saponins, sterols, tannins, terpenes and phenolic acids in the selective leaf extracts from N. nucifera. Total phytophenol contents (12992 μg GAE / g), flavonoids (4.494%), anthocyanins (0.865 mg / g), flavonic aglycones (1.87 mg / g) and total tannins (8.721%) have been determined by spectrophotometric method. The antioxidant capacity evaluated with respect to the DPPH, showed that ethyl acetate (RC50 = 0.012 μg / ml) and n-butanol extracts (RC50 = 0.0125 μg / ml) are significantly more active than the hexane (RC50 = 0.11 μg / ml) and chloroform (RC50 = 0.05 μg / ml) extracts. However, the RC50 of ethyl acetate and n-butanol extracts showed no significant difference with regard to vitamin C (RC50 = 0.0117 μg / ml), the positive control.
