A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON LIPID POLYMER HYBRID NANOPARTICLES

ABSTRACT
Solid lipid nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, Liposomes, micelles, gold nanoparticles, dendrimers, niosomes and carbon nanotubes have been commonly used as nanocarriers for many years but they are suffering from their own inherent limitations which are enumerated in literature such as drug leakage and high water content of dispersions. Intentionally, drug loaded lipid polymer hybrid nanoparticles (LPHNPs) are developed to overcome all the limitations of traditional nanosystems. LPHNP gives advantages of both polymeric nanoparticles and lipidic nanoparticles along with liposomes. LPHNPs restricts the release of water soluble drugs because of its structure in which lipid coats polymeric core, that ultimately leads to increase entrapment efficiency. Therefore in ingenious one can encapsulated oil or water soluble drugs while developing LPHNPs. The present review is focused on the drug selection criteria, approaches, different formulation strategies, and characterization of LPHNPs for oral drug delivery.
