ABSTRACT
Ayurveda philosopher used term Grahani for seat of Agni responsible for metabolism and digestion of Ahara. The process of ingestion, absorption digestion and assimilation of foods is regulated by Grahani. The disturbance of Agni causes improper digestion of foods and this state described as Mandagni which turned to Grahani roga if persisted for longer period of time. The anomalies in Jatharagni described as Grahanidosha. Grahani as pathological condition affects large number of population world widely and instances of such condition increases now a days due to the awful dietary habits and stressful life routine. The Agnidosha mainly considered responsible factor for Grahani roga which impaired digestive functioning and alter capacity of digestive fire. Ayurveda suggested several therapeutic modalities for the treatment of Grahani roga and Tryushnadi Ghrit is one such formulation which can be used for the therapeutic management of Grahani. This article summarizes Ayurveda perspective on Grahani W.S.R. to irritable bowel syndrome and its Ayurveda management.
