A STUDY TO ASSESS THE IMPACT OF LOCKDOWN DUE TO COVID 19 ON OCCUPATION AND FINANCIAL STATUS AMONG SELECTED FAMILIES IN KOLLAM

ABSTRACT
The research work undertook was "A study to assess the impact of lockdown due to covid-19 on occupation and financial status among selected families in Kollam”. The objective of the study was to: to assess the impact of lockdown on occupation and financial status among selected families in Kollam, with selected demographic variables such as age, gender, occupation, Economical status, type of family, source of income. A quantitative approach was used in the study. Purposive sampling technique was used. Sample consisted of 50 people in selected families in Kollam. The researcher collected the data using self- structured questionnaire regarding impact of lockdown due to covid19 on occupation and financial status. The tool was found to be reliable. The study result shows that 30% of samples were in the age group of 21-30 years, 10% in the age group of 31-40 years, 22% in the age group of 41-50 years, 32% in the age group of 51-60 years, 6% in the age group of 61-70 years. The data regarding gender reveals that 68% of the samples were in males and 32% of the samples were females. The data regarding occupation shows that 32% of the samples were private employed, 14% were Govt. employed and 54% were self employed. The data regarding Type of family shows that 20% of the samples have joint family and 80% of the samples have nuclear family. The data regarding economical status shows that 36% of samples have below 10000 in monthly income, 62% of samples have between 10000- 50000 in monthly income, 2% of samples have above 50000 in monthly income. The data regarding source of income shows that 92% of the samples obtain income from job, 4% from pension and 4% of samples from other source of income. Based on the findings the investigators have drawn implication which were of vital concerns in the field of nursing practice, nursing administration and nursing education for future development.
