PREPARATION, INDICATION AND CONTRAINDICATION OF KSHARA SUTRA: AN AYURVEDA REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Ayurvedic therapy, an ancient medicinal practice, has gained favorability due to its perceived effectiveness and safety. Ayurveda does present its own set of side effects and potential disease recurrence; many individuals still choose it for its perceived safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness within the realm of traditional medical science. One of the specific applications within Ayurveda is the employment of Kshar Sutra, which employed for the management of conditions like piles, fissure and fistula. Kshar Sutra therapy finds its roots in ancient Ayurvedic texts by renowned practitioners like Charak and Sushruta, etc. This technique is widely practiced in India and various other countries for the management of para-surgical interventions. This therapy mainly employs a specially prepared thread to address surgical conditions effectively and affordably. This article put a special emphasis on preparation, indication and contraindication of Kshara Sutra.
