SAR STUDY OF FLAVONOIDS ISOLATED FROM TRIDAX PROCUMBENS L. FOR THEIR ANTI-OXIDANT ACTIVITY

ABSTRACT

Flavonoids are very important group of polyphenolic natural products having antioxidant properties. Tridax procumbens is reported to be rich in various classes of flavonoids and have many pharmacological activities including Radical scavenging activity. All the flavonoids identified from Tridax procumbens are examined for their radical scavenging activity. It is seen from the molecular field plots that 4-oxo function coupled with 3’,4’-di OH plays an important role in radical scavenging activity of flavonoids. Myceretin, Kampeferol and Qurcetin present in tridax procumbens are found to possess all the properties required for radical scavenging.
