A REVIEW ON BUCCAL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

Oral drug delivery is a promising traditional method that involves placing drugs in the mouth for direct absorption through the mucosa. This method bypasses first- pass metabolism, increasing the bioavailability of the drug, allowing the child to ta ke more of it. Controlled-release and release enhanced procedures help improve treatment outcomes and have no impact on pati ent compliance. However, challenges such as masking, absorption differences, and mucosal irritation require careful design. Despite these problems, research is const antly seeking to improve the oral cavity, make it usable, and update the drug delive ry strategy, balancing efficiency and patient acceptance.
