CELLULAR INNOVATIONS IN CHRONIC DISEASE: A ROADMAP TO IMPROVED HEALTH

ABSTRACT
Chronic diseases present significant challenges to healthcare systems worldwide, necessitating innovative approaches for effective management. Cellular engineering has emerged as a transformative discipline offering novel strategies to address the root causes of chronic illnesses. This review provides a comprehensive exploration of cellular innovations in chronic disease management, encompassing advancements in stem cell biology, gene editing technologies, and immunotherapy. By harnessing the regenerative potential of living cells, cellular engineering endeavors to restore tissue function, repair damaged organs, and mitigate the progression of chronic ailments. Through a systematic review of recent literature, we delineate the applications of cellular engineering across diverse chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, autoimmune diseases, respiratory diseases, renal diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and others. Furthermore, we discuss the challenges and future directions in translating cellular engineering interventions from bench to bedside, emphasizing the collaborative efforts required to realize the full potential of cellular therapies for improving health outcomes in individuals affected by chronic diseases.
