ABSTRACT

Cancer of the breast is the greatest often identified malignant tumor in women across the world, as well as the leading cause of mortality from malignant tumors. Breast cancer rates are increasing globally. As a result, despite advances in identification and treatment, which have resulted in lower death rates, it appears vital to seek for novel therapeutic ways as well as predictive and prognostic indicators. Treatment techniques differ according to the molecular sub-type. Breast cancer treatment is interdisciplinary, including approaches to loco-regional therapy (surgery and radiation therapy) and systemic therapy. Systemic treatments include hormone therapy for hormone-positive cancer, chemotherapy, anti-HER2 therapy for HER2-positive disease, and, most recently, immunotherapy. Triple-negative breast cancer accounts for more than 15-20% of the total number of breast cancers. This condition is of special study interest because it poses a therapeutic challenge, owing to its limited responsiveness to therapy and extremely invasive nature. Future breast cancer therapeutic concepts aim to personalize therapy while also de-escalating and escalating treatment based on disease biology and early response. The article provides an assessment of the current situation and future prospects of breast cancer.
