THE EFFECT OF AYURVEDA INDIGENOUS DRUG COMPOUND IN THE INDUCTION OF MENSTRUAL - A CASE SERIES STUDY

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Amenorrhea is a symptom that reflects underlying disease in any part of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary-uterine axis. In Ayurveda, Anarthava as a symptom is taken up as temporary imbalance of the presiding factors like Doshadushtilakshana, or as a symptom of a disease Vyadhilakshana. Menstrual induction” describes the use of medical agents to induce menses in women in whom menstruation is delayed. Hence there is much wide scope for Ayurveda drug which helps for induction of menstruation. Aims and Objective: To evaluate the effect of ayurvedic indigenous compound drug in induction of menstruation. Material and Method: In the Study, 08 patients were selected having amenorrhea of more than 40 days irrespective of the underlying pathology from the OPD & IPD of Prasuti Tantra & StreeRoga Department JSS Ayurveda Medical Hospital mysuru will be counselled and selected for the study. Subjects with absence of menstruation more than 40days with irrespective of underlying pathology were given with 6g of powder with madhu quantity sufficient three times a day for 15 days Signs and symptoms will be evaluated based on subjective parameters like: Induction of menstruation –Appearance of menstruation during intervention. Result: Out of 8 subjects 4 attained menstruation with in 15 days and 2 subjects reported as feeling of menstrual symptoms like heavynes of abdomen, whitedischarge per vagina but bleeding not appreciated. 2 subjects remained unchanged. About 40% of the patients required only less than 10 days for induction of menstruation with the medicine, 10% required upto 15 days and 50% no induction of menstruation seen.
