REVIEW ON NANOEMULSION: A NOVEL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
Nanoemulsion has been spotted as a promising delivery system for various drugs. Nanoemulsion refers to a thermodynamically stable isotropic clear dispersion of two immiscible liquids, such as oil and water stabilized by an interfacial film of surfactant molecules with average droplet size ranging from 20nm to 200 nm. Nanoemulsions are under extensive exploration, as drug carriers for improving delivery of therapeutic agents. These are by far the most superior nanoparticle systems for systemic delivery of active pharmaceutical for controlled drug delivery and targeting. Nanoemulsions have the prospective in Pharmaceutical industries because of transparency at high droplet volume fraction, elevated shelf life and higher rate of diffusion/bioavailability of the pharmaceuticals. This review is a detail about the formulation, methods of preparation and characterization techniques with significance on the pharmaceutical applications of the nanoemulsion.
