Abstract
“NANOTECHNOLOGY BASED DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR FUNGAL INFECTIONS OF SKIN”

*Jadhav Swati K., Dr. Ajay Fugate, Sadule Akshay, Punam Londhe and Komal Jadhav

ABSTRACT

Fungal skin infections, such as ringworm and athlete's foot, are common and often difficult to treat due to challenges like drug resistance and poor skin penetration of conventional treatments. Nanotechnology has emerged as a promising solution to enhance the effectiveness of antifungal therapies. By utilizing nanoparticles and nanoscale carriers, such as liposomes, solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs), and polymeric micelles, researchers are developing advanced drug delivery systems that improve targeting, bioavailability, and sustained release of antifungal agents. These nanotechnology-based systems can enhance drug penetration through the skin, protect drugs from degradation, and reduce side effects, offering more effective and patient-compliant treatments. Additionally, gels, as versatile drug carriers, are being integrated with nanotechnology to further optimize drug delivery, providing localized and controlled release while improving therapeutic outcomes.

Keywords: Nanoparticles, SLNs, drug delivery, antifungal drug.
