ABSTRACT
A unique method was developed for the determination of N-Chlorsuccinimde (NCS) in N-Bromo succinimide (NBS). NBS contain trace levels of NCS, this NCS to formation of N-Nitrosamines in the subsequent products. Hence, control strategy required for NCS in NBS. Chromatographic separation was achieved on Metrosep A Supp 10 (250 mm x 4.0 mm), 4.6 μm particles size column. The mobile phase consists of 1.8 mM Sodium carbonate and 1.7 mM of Sodium bicarbonate with the flow rate 0.6 ml min-1 by applying 45°C column oven temperature and using 50 mM of Sulfuric acid as suppressor regeneration solution. The analytes were monitored by conductometric detector. The performance assessed by evaluating the specificity, linearity, sensitivity, precision, solution stability and accuracy experiments. The limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) established for N-Chlorosuccinimide as 0.4 μg mL-1 and 1.2 μg mL-1 respectively. The correlation coefficient value of linearity experiment was 0.9956. Standard and sample solutions are stable up to 24 Hrs. at ambient temperature (~ 25°C). The average recovery for N-Chlorosuccinimide is 116.2%. The results proves that the validated method was suitable for controlling of N-Chlorsuccinimde content in N-Bromosuccinimide sample and method can be successfully applied in the quality control analysis.
