ABSTRACT
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant contributor to the need for dialysis and also elevates the likelihood of developing cardiovascular conditions. It is strongly associated with lifestyle-related illnesses, particularly diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. Individuals undergoing dialysis often face further health issues such as heart disease, infections, and certain cancers, and unfortunately, their overall prognosis tends to be poor. CKD affects nearly 10% of the global population, and countless people lose their lives each year due to lack of access to affordable care. Despite numerous scientific studies confirming the safety and benefits of physical activity for those with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), many in the medical field still view it as unsuitable, which prevents it from being widely recommended. Additionally, patients’ concerns over damaging their vascular access and common experiences of anxiety or depression further discourage them from engaging in physical exercise. In the present study an attempt has been made to review the physical training during haemodialysis and off-dialysis days in chronic dialysis patients. From the discussion of the study, it might be concluded that, supervised physical training should be recommended to the chronic dialysis patients during haemodialysis and off-dialysis days. The endurance and strength training should be encouraged by the nephrologists and physiotherapists to the chronic dialysis patients during their haemodialysis and off-dialysis days.
