EFFECTIVENESS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AFTER MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Myocardial infarction (MI) is the deterioration of the condition of myocardial cells caused by a sudden reduction or total interruption of blood flow through the blood vessels of the heart. The rehabilitation of patients after myocardial infarction is carried out in specialized facilities with trained medical staff, based on the patient's condition and basic parameters, gradually increasing physical activity and educating the patients. Purpose of the research: The purpose of this paper is to analyze MI cases in different institutions, specifically the University Clinical Center of Kosovo in Pristina and the General Hospital of Prizren. Methods and Materials: The research is a retrospective cohort study with a descriptive component. Data were obtained from the University Clinical Center of Kosovo in Pristina and the General Regional Hospital of Prizren. The study included 300 MI-treated cases. The data were entered into a database and analyzed by gender, age, location, physical therapy applied, and the affected side of the heart. Outcomes: Most patients with MI were male with low to middle levels of education. The primary symptom reported was chest tightness. Conclusion: Heart diseases are increasing. The main causes include hypertension, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, stress, physical inactivity, smoking, psychosocial factors, and others.
