Abstract
EFFECT OF STRESS ON WOMEN w.s.r. TO REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

Stress is an integral part of modern living. In order to maintain the standards of living it has been necessary for a women to work outdoors probably in a more stressful condition which has an impact on her physical health too. In response to stress the harmony of endocrine system is disrupted especially in chronic conditions. HPA and HPO axis are involved mainly and disruption in these axis n leads to various problems from disturbed menstrual cycles to infertility. Our acharyas have given prime importance to state of manas and manasika bhavas by stating soumanasyam garbhadharananam.[1] And by quoting chinta, shoka, bhaya are said to be nidana’s for various vataja disorders. Vata being the main dosha responsible for proper functioning of female reproductive system[2] vitiation of vata can lead to various conditions like yoni vyapad, asrugdhara, artava dusti, etc. Studies have proven that women suffer more from stress than men. Many studies have been done to understand the adaptation of endocrine system to stress and have been proved that stress has an impact on the functioning of reproductive system. Hence an urgent need is seen to educate the society regarding the various paricharyas put forth in Ayurveda in order to maintain the doshas irrespective of the external factors, which in turn maintains health.
