ABSTRACT

The research was investigated on “Effect of metabolic size of twenty Murrah buffaloes on compositional quality of raw milk produced at Kushwaha Dairy Farm Allahabadâ€Â. The twenty Murrah Buffaloes of the Kushwaha Dairy Farm Allahabad were subjected to Californian mastitis test (CMT) with negative were selected. All experimental animals were fed & managed under face to face system of housing at Kushwaha Dairy farm. Buffaloes were milked by dry full hand method of milking. First two to three streams of fore milk from each quarter of udder were discarded. Milk samples were taken directly from the udder and analyzed for determination of fat, Protein, lactose, Ash, total solid (TS), solid not fat (SNF),Water, acidity and specific gravity (sp. gr.) percentage in milk. The results showed that metabolic size of Murrah buffaloes had no significant effect on fat, Protein, ash, total solid (TS), Solid not fat (SNF), water and acidity in milk, but it had a significant effect on lactose and specific gravity percentage in milk. It was revealed that Murrah buffaloes having metabolic size 360 – 378 and 341-359 produced better compositional quality of raw milk containing significantly more lactose and sp.gr.

Keywords: Metabolic size, Murrah buffaloes, Milk, compositional parameters.
