Abstract
A STUDY OF INVENTORY MANAGEMENT IN SAI SERVICE PRIVATE LIMITED SHOWROOM

Prathmesh Mahendra Gaikwad, Yash Vijay Aglawe*, Dr. Pushpalata Patil

ABSTRACT

Inventory management is a critical function in any organization, particularly in the automobile industry where the availability of vehicles and spare parts directly impacts customer satisfaction and business performance. This study focuses on analyzing the inventory management practices adopted in Maruti Suzuki India Limited showrooms. It examines key techniques such as Just-In-Time (JIT), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), ABC analysis, and demand forecasting, which are used to maintain an optimal level of inventory. The research highlights the importance of maintaining a balance between overstocking and understocking to minimize costs and ensure smooth operations. The study also explores the inventory flow process from suppliers to manufacturers, warehouses, and finally to showrooms, emphasizing the role of efficient supply chain coordination. It identifies challenges such as demand fluctuations, delays in supply, limited storage capacity, and inefficiencies in traditional scheduling systems. In particular, the use of monthly scheduling often leads to uneven inventory levels, causing shortages during the initial weeks and excess stock towards the end of the month. The study suggests that adopting a weekly scheduling system and implementing real-time inventory monitoring can significantly improve control and reduce such fluctuations. Furthermore, the research underscores the importance of strong vendor relationships, technological integration, and staff training in achieving effective inventory management. The use of digital tools, electronic communication systems, and automated processes can enhance accuracy, transparency, and responsiveness in inventory control. The findings indicate that efficient inventory management not only reduces carrying and ordering costs but also improves service quality and operational efficiency.
