THE SURVEY OF THE NURSES’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS PATIENT SAFETY

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the medical errors and incidents which are mostly stemming from human faults and unsafe behaviors impose heavy costs on the society. The current study has been undertaken in line with the survey of the nurses’ attitudes regarding the patients’ safety. Implementation method: the current study makes use of a descriptive-analytical method and it has been conducted on 120 individuals of the nurses working in two training hospitals in Zahedan in 2016. In the present paper standard ―HSOPSC‖ questionnaire has been made use. The data has been analyzed by making use of SPSS 19 and descriptive statistics, Pierson correlation tests and independent t-test. Findings: the participants average age was 31.30 ± 7.88 and from among them 82 people (68.3%) were female. The relationship between gender and age with patient safety culture and each of its dimensions and aspects was not statistically significant (P>0.05). The average scores in each of the patient safety dimensions were in an intermediate level. Conclusion: in the present study the nurses reported the patient safety culture in an intermediate level.
