THE INCIDENCE OF BREAST CANCER IN IRAQ POPULATION (2000 -2010)

ABSTRACT
This study presents the first population-based report on breast cancer in the Iraq population using data derived from a Iraq cancer registry/Bagdad /ministry of health. A retrospective study was conducted to find all new breast cancer cases From all governorates of Iraq by the Iraqi cancer registry during the 11-year period 2000–2010. There were 27599 cases recorded in the governorates of Iraq. The crude incidence rate for breast cancer was (10.90) ) per 100,000 female population in 2010 While the in the period2009-2000 was (9.43,8.56, 9.55, 9.17, 9.26, 9.44, 7.73, 10.65, 9.99, 8.43). Then calculated the number of cases in each governorates of Iraq , Where Baghdad was the highest number cases in middle Iraq (8535), while Nineveh is the highest in the north of Iraq (2253) and basrah is the highest in south of Iraq (2069) . Then were studied distribution of breast cancer cases by the regions of the middle Iraq showed that the highest rate was found in the AL- karkh(2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006 and 2010) and AL-rissaffa(2007,2008 and 2009) While the highest regions number of cases in north Iraq was AL-mosul from 2000-2010 And finally was the highest regions in southern Iraq was basrah form 2000-2010.
