DOCETAXEL-INDUCED LIPID PEROXIDATION USING REDUCED GLUTATHIONE AS MODEL MARKER: PROTECTIVE ROLE OF WATER EXTRACT OF SPIRULINA PLATENSIS

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study was to investigate free radical scavenging activity of water extract of Spirulina platensis on docetaxel-induced lipid peroxidation using reduced glutathione as model marker. The in vitro study was performed using goat liver as source of lipid. The results suggest that docetaxel could induce lipid peroxidation to a significant extent and it was also found that water extract of the Spirulina platensis has the ability to suppress the docetaxel-induced toxicity.
