ABSTRACT
Till date modern laboratorial techniques are not habitually used for diagnosis of Ayurveda pathogenesis. Assessment of alteration from physical and biochemical changes is relatively more unbiased and easily demonstrable calculative technique. Diseases are the outcome of imbalanced state of dosha (basic humors of body) which manifests through different clinical and biochemical changes. So it is clear that the process of aggravation of dosha (basic humors of body) took place from the very beginning of the disease evolution and plausibly rakta (blood) is the best media where the biological changes are mostly reflects. Literary resources were analysed in this study. All the data concerning features of shuddha rakta (normal blood) and dushita rakta (vitiated blood) mentioned in classical Ayurveda text were collected. The features of raktadushti (hematological disorder) were analyzed in order to understand these through different laboratorial parameters. The physical parameters of blood like-colour, consistency, coagulation, temperature, smell, pH, viscosity, qualities, foam tests, specific gravity etc. can be utilized to investigate the pathophysiological features of blood illustrated by ancient Ayurveda scholars. Laboratorial investigation can provide independent, unbiased, calculative clue for understanding of Ayurveda patho-physiology of various diseases and ultimately it may provide accurate proposition for selection of precise therapeutic procedure.
