Abstract
EFFICACY OF LEECH APPLICATION IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ECZEMA WITH SPECIAL REFFERANCE TO VICHARCHIKA

ABSTRACT

Eczema accounts for large proportion of skin diseases (30% prevalence rate). Eczema after its occurrence (acute) invariably becomes chronic in spite of treatment. Treatment in Modern medicine consists of antihistamines, oral & topical steroids, emollients, steroid injections, phototherapy by UV light. Remission & exacerbations are frequently seen in patients of eczema receiving modern treatment. Though much research work is done in understanding the disease & its treatment, still there is no successful treatment in modern system of medicine for complete cure. Ayurveda definitely have long lasting solution for this ailment. In the present clinical study it was concluded that leech application is effective with tab. Arogyavardhini vati & tab. Manjishtha Ghana vati in the management of eczema.
