*Gbeneol J. Tombari

ABSTRACT

Public and private partnership is an answer to the high demand for infrastructure which is at all times high, which is not being currently met by traditional contracting methods. Private companies in conjunction with the public sector or one of its branches have therefore introduced this solution which provide a more integrated financial design construction, maintenance and operational solution to infrastructure projects. This research examined the analysis on the transforming public private partnership mixes in health care sector in Ghana. It highlighted the origin of public private partnership, its importance and nature, that is, the meaning and significance of PPP; taken cognizance of the different model of PPP in Health sector. Data presentation included the appraisal and challenges of PPP in the various health sectors in Ghana. Ghana‘s experience with the e-government PPP provides lessons for other PPP projects in the country. This is particularly important following the country‘s adoption in June 2011 of the National Policy on PPPs, as the country moves to put in place the requisite legal framework. The potential benefits of the partnership, including leveraging private capital to complement limited PPPs public resources, more efficient public services, and improved national and business competitiveness, provide promising lessons for structuring more both within and beyond Ghana‘s borders. The broad-base arrangement put in place by the government of Ghana has not only affected the efficiency and effectiveness in the health sector partnership with private enterprises but has also transcended into a capacity building process which cut across other sectors of the economy; strengthening the economy and removing much burden from the government at the centre.
