REVIEW ON THE EUSTRESS AND DISTRESS AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS-AN UPDATE

ABSTRACT

Stress is a necessary and unavoidable concomitant of daily living - necessary because without some stress we would be listless and apathetic creatures and unavoidable because it relates to any external event, it may be pleasurable or anxiety producing. Students living in hostels were observed to be prone to develop stress; thus, a periodic review of hostels, with feedback from the students, should be conducted and the complaints of students should be promptly addressed. The majority of students were in favour of stress management education being included in the curriculum and hence steps should be taken for its incorporation. The mental stresses of college students gain wide attentions from the society currently. In this paper, we have collected various reviews of the mental stresses and argue that there are four sources of stresses, namely employment situations, study conditions, personal factors and economic conditions.
