SPONTANEOUS MASSIVE HEMOTHORAX- AN UNUSUAL AND RARE PRESENTATION IN DENGUE INFECTION

ABSTRACT

Dengue fever is one of the most commonly found mosquito born diseases, mosquito growing on man made water reservoir, which act as vector for pathogenic virus. Dengue infection have wide spectrum of presentation varying from simple febrile illness to severe dengue that carries significant emergency state and mortality. Severe dengue may present with respiratory complications, although Pleuro-pulmonary complications in dengue infection is rare. we are here reporting the case of severe dengue infection in 28 year male teacher presented with sudden onset severe respiratory distress due to spontaneous hemothorax, which landed him to life threatening condition requiring critical care management.
