THERAPEUTIC USES OF HARTAL: A CRITICAL REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is the ancient science of medicine. Ayurveda with its overarching apporch to life and well-being has been an integral part of this civilization. The invention of Rasa Shastra (Ayurvedic Pharmaceutics) established specific and appropriate formulation from of metals. Hartal is widely –used in various herbo-metal formulation of Ayurveda, indicated specially for diseases of Prameha , Vatvikar, Kasa Rajyakshma, Visuchika etc. It is used appropriately either as a single drug or in formulation with other medicines. Ashusdh hartal causes many diseases in human beings so that after proper shodhan of hartal should be used for medicinal purposes and a variety of clinical factors that ensure safety and efficacy of its use indexed journal of Ayurveda research paper revelling many properties of Hartal which has already been quoted in rasa classics . Research to in support the classic literature has shown the excellent results of Hartal and its formulations.
