KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND UTILIZATION OF CONTRACEPTIVES, AMONG WOMEN ATTENDING ANTENTAL AND POSTAL CLINIC IN OGWA GENERAL HOSPITAL.

ABSTRACT
The main purpose of the study was to assess knowledge, attitude and utilization of contraceptive among women attending antenatal and postnatal Clinic in Ogwa General Hospital Mbaitoli L.G.A. The design adopted for the study was survey design. The target populations of the study is 250, the sampling technique, the instrument for data collection were 13 items questionnaire. Results were analysed using inferential statistics and presented in frequency and table. The following were the findings of the study: the study revealed that the respondents have good knowledge of contraceptive as more 61 (61%) respondents have heard about contraceptive and majority 65 (65%) of the respondents have seen contraceptive before. The study also revealed that the respondents have negative attitude towards contraceptive as 59 (59%) disagreed that they can use contraceptive pills if need be, 61 (61%) agreed that contraceptive pills are taken only by promiscuous girls, 59 (59%) agreed that is a sin to use contraceptive pills, 51 (51%) agreed that contraceptive is not good for the health.. In the same vein the study shows the contraceptives use among the women is very poor as majority 61 (61%) have not used contraceptive before, and out of 39 (39%) that uses it 28 (28%) have stopped using it.
