PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL REVIEW ON STROKE AND ITS POSSIBLE TREATMENTS

ABSTRACT

Stroke is considered as one of the most life threatening neurological disorder. It is among the leading death causing disease in the world. It leads to cerebral ischemia which further can cause irreversible damage to the brain. This damage can affect various functions of the brain like cognition, learning, loss of senses, loss of motor activities or abnormal motor activities, etc. Stroke leads to the excitotoxicity, acidotoxicity and ionic imbalance, peri-infarct depolarization, oxidative and nitrative stress, inflammation and apoptosis, etc. The treatments for Stroke are very less, if available they are not well known. In this review, we will give a complete incite about the pathophysiology and possible treatments for stroke.
