ANTIBACTERIAL POTENTIAL AND GC-MS PROFILING OF METHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACT OF VITEX NEGUNDO LINN.

ABSTRACT

The current study was designed to catalyze the primary metabolites and their authentification by using GC-MS analysis and antibacterial power of methanolic leaf extract of Vitex negundo. The antibacterial potential of the methanol leaf extract of Vitex negundo was tested against Bacillus cereus, Proteus vulgaris and Proteus mirabilis using by agar well diffusion method. The higher zone of inhibition (55.03mm) was observed against the bacterium P.vulgaris at 20μl and 25μl concentration of methanol leaf extract. GC-MS analysis confirms the occurrence of more than 16 different compounds in the methanol leaf extract of Vitex negundo.
