ABSTRACT
In the present investigation, two types of orally administrable dosage forms of leaves and flowers of lantana camara extracts were developed. Two formulations from liquid class were designed and formulated. By considering difficulty of solubility of herbal drugs in a vehicle, in one of the liquid class, decoction form of drugs in specific vehicle was used. This form of drugs hereafter considered as Liquid Oral Dosage Form. To prepare a liquid dosage in suspension form was also designed using acacia and tragacanth as suspending agents into four formulations. Formulated dosage forms are then subjected to evaluation parameters. The liquid oral form was evaluated for parameters like pH, specific gravity, density and stability studies. While the suspension form was evaluated for the above parameters along with rate of sedimentation and viscosity. Out of four formulations LS2 formulation was found to shows the best results, which is better than LS1, LS3 and LS4 form of suspension.
