ABSTRACT
Rosemary leaves extract are known to have a significant antioxidant properties. This is because presence of some compounds, mainly phenolic diterpenes, which is responsible for these antioxidant properties. This study aimed to extract rosemary and prepared as anti-wrinkle cream and gel. These dosage forms were prepared using 0.5% concentrations of extract for cream and gel; after evaluate the antioxidant capacity of extract using DPPH method and that was compared against standard antioxidant, ascorbic acid. The results
showed that rosemary has a high antioxidant capacity 71.17% compared with antioxidant capacity of ascorbic acid was 93.58%. Finally accelerated stability study was carried out at 25oC with 65%RH and 40oC with 75%±5%RH for one month and evaluation tests were done for pH, viscosity, spreadability, extrudability, and assay of antioxidant activity. The results of stability study showed no changes in formulations after keeping at different conditions for one month.
