ABSTRACT
Nanoparticles are the colloidal particles ranging from 10 to 1000nm. In pharmaceuticals various drugs can be developed into or transformed into nanoparticles. There are many lab scale and large scale methods of preparations and characterizations of nanoparticles. Pharmaceuticals nanoparticles shows various features like enhanced solubility, penetrability, producing enhanced efficacy with prolong circulation, drug localization improving the targeted delivery of therapeutic agents to its site. Therefore, nanoparticles hold an incredible potential as an effective drug delivery system. The most emerging branch in pharmaceutical sciences known as pharmaceutical nanotechnology presents new tools, opportunities and scope, which are expected to have significant applications in diseases diagnostics and therapeutics. However some recently found health risk evidences limits their utilization in pharmaceutical industry. With numerous advantages the nanoparticles have shown potential toxicity in living creatures. Different methods of toxicology determination have been recognized that are helpful to safely utilize the nanoparticles in humans. Therefore in the present article we review various aspects of nanoparticle formulation, characterization, effect of their characteristics and their applications in delivery of drug molecules, improving the targeted delivery of therapeutic agents and the potential toxicity in the diagnostics and treating various disorders and challenges in synthesizing nanoparticles platforms for delivering various drugs has been discussed.
