A CASE STUDY OF BRINGHANA THREAPY BY ASHVAGANDHA CHURNA(WITHANIA SOMINIFERA) AND RSYGANDHA CHURNA(WITHANIA COAGULANS) IN A PATIENT OF TAMAKASHWASA ROGA(BRONCHIAL ASTHMA)

ABSTRACT
Acharya Charak has described shwasa roga along with Hikka roga as inter related clinical condition in one chapter and proclaimed that these disease have similar etiological factor,disease diathesis and site of origin i.e. pitta sthana. Impairment of agni at its place along with vitiated vata and kapha dosha in association with environmental factors which played a key role in the basic matrix of diathesis of shwasa roga. Difficulty in breathing is commonly observed symptoms in all five types of shwasa as Tamak shwasa roga ,such type problems can be managed by life style, dietary and drug invention which posses kapha and vata alleviating property. Besides restoration of agni status is also important one along with virechana (purgative) therapy. Charaka has explained the principles of management of Shwasa roga in terms shaman (alleviation therapy) and Bringhana(nourishing therapy) because the upadrava of shwasa roga after Bringhana chikitsa become sukhsadhyay. The adverse effect of bringhana is minimal and curable easily keeping this facts in mind Ashwagandha churna and Rsyagandha churna is used as Bringhana measure along with other Shwasahara drug in a case of Tamak shwasa for a period of three month with monthly follow up .The result is clinically significant in reducing the symptoms and remarkable improvement is obtained in Pulmonary function test(PFT).
