Abstract
PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF AQUEOUS AND METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF APPLE (MALUSPUMILA) PEEL

Dipali Markam* and Dr. M. K. Gupta

ABSTRACT

Objective of the study: The main objective of the study is to evaluate the presence of phytochemicals in the extracts optioned by apple peel. The extracts were made by using apple peel in two different phases (fresh & shied dried). Two solvents, water and methanol were used to prepare two different extract. To performing these tests standard methods were used. Result: The presence of alkaloids, carbohydrate, proteins, flavonoids, phenol, and glycoside component were revealed in the qualitative analysis of aqueous and methanolic extract of apple peel. Quantitative analysis were performed by Reducing power assay and found that reducing sugar is present in each extract. By performing TPC and TFC assays, it was found that in methnolic extract of dried apple peel and aqueous extract of fresh apple peel, flavonoids and Phenolic compound were found in high amount. Conclusions: Due to present of many important components, apple is able to make its place in every human being diet. By these experiments it is also proved that in apple peel many phytochemical components are present. Many apple base industries treat apple peel as waste product, which can utilize as raw material to produce important product for the betterment of human and environment. The study suggests that peel extract of apple could be useful for various therapeutic and pharmacological activities.

Keywords: Aqueous, Methanolic Extract.
