ASSESSMENT OF INCIDENCE OF STATIN INDUCE DIABETES IN PATIENT WITH HYPERLIPIDEMIA IN K .R. HOSPITAL, MYSURU

ABSTRACT
Statin are one of the most commonly used drugs worldwide for prevention of mainly hyperlipidemia and other adverse cardiovascular event .US FDA administration given a warning in February 2012 regarding increased risk of incident diabetes and impaired glycemic control in patient who already have diabetes. This study was carried out for six months hospital based prospective and retrospective observation study was carried out at department of general medicine in Krishna Rajendra Hospital, Mysuru a teaching hospital of Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) Mysuru, Karnataka. In this study we have collected data by the patient consent form cum patient data collection form after taking a prior permission by the patient or patient attendees the data has been collected and used for the formulation of result and demographic profiles for research work. A total number of 185 subject are identified and enrolled in the study which 86 (46.48%) were male and 99 (53.51%) were female .all the patients are given consent for the study. In this present study I find out a positive correlation between statin drugs and diabetes type 2.result clearly show there is a strong association that indicates statin is a risk factor for diabetes mellitus and poor control of diabetes.
