THE SIGNIFICANT ROLE OF NASYA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF AVABAHUKA

ABSTRACT
In the fast developing technological era, most of the disease may not be life threatening but hamper day to day life and human productivity. Apabahuka in one among those disease which is painful and affects the normal routine life style of in individuals. Apabahuka is a disease that usually affects the Amsa sandhi (shoulder joint). It is produced by the Vata dosha. Even though the term Apabahuka is not mentioned in the Nanatmaja Vata vyadhi, Acharya Sushruta and others have considered Apabahuka as a Vataja Vikara and it is one among the vatavyadhi that affects the normal functioning of the upper limbs. Vata among three humors is considered to be superior most in all aspects, for every action and movement, strongest in its ability to produce disease and worst mortality. Vata which is motivating factor of other two doshas gets easily aggravated. Apabahuka is a common condition which badly affects the routine domestic activities of patients like combing, bathing etc. Interference in occupation by the illness is equally true both in patients with sedentary office work as well as heavy field work.
