Abstract
AN APPRAISAL ON STHAULYA (OBESITY) ETIOLOGY AND TREATMENT IN VARIOUS AYURVEDA TREATISES

ABSTRACT

Obesity is a overwhelming lifestyle disorder. In Ayurveda, Obesity can be correlated with Sthaulya or Medoroga. Today, one can see a huge gap in society where some people are in trouble due to overweight while some are suffering from malnutrition. Obesity is a non communicable disorder but its increasing rate is escalating a burden on society. All most all the Samhitas cover the topic Sthaulya. Health fraternities are dependant on Ayurveda treatment for obesity because of limited treatment modalities in modern medicine for obesity. So, here an effort has been taken to throw a light on etiology and treatment aspect of Ayurveda for obesity.
