UTILITY OF CONTEMPORARY PRINCIPLES AND INSTRUMENTS OF PHARMACEUTICAL PROCESSING FOR MILLING, DRYING, MIXING IN AYURVEDIC PHARMACEUTICS - A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Pharmaceutical processing (Samskara) and their principles are well explored and applied since time immemorial in Ayurvedic pharmaceutical sciences. With change of era one must ripe the benefits of advancement in principles of pharmaceutics, technology and instrumentation and moreover it is need of time in view of standardization, globalization and industrial manufacture. Contemporary knowledge of principles of milling, drying and mixing and advancement of instruments for the same is necessity of time hence its review has been done from available resources and applicability of related subject in Ayurvedic pharmaceutics has been discussed. All of the principles, instrumentation may not be applicable and their selective utility as per process and requirement in different pharmaceutico-clinical set up and their motto along with challenges for practical utility have been discussed. It is concluded that, one can ripe benefit of modern technology and instruments of these pharmaceutical operations to extend the horizons of practical utility, augmentation of effect, ease of operation and augmentation of process yield in Ayurvedic pharmaceutics. Besides this, the knowledge may help in control over these operations leading to precise operation conditions needed for standardization and quality drug production.
