FABRICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF MELT-IN-MOUTH TABLETS FOR THE TREATMENT OF CHEMOTHERAPY INDUCED EMESIS

ABSTRACT

In modern pharmacy era, a multiplicity of research has been carried out to expand new dosage forms. Amongst, the melt-in-mouth tablets are one of the most widely utilized viable products to assist the ease of medication. Upon administration into the mouth, these tablets dissolve or disperse in the mouth in the absence of additional water and the drug is readily released from the dosage form. Palonosetron Hydrochloride is an antiemetic drug used for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including initial and repeat courses of chemotherapy. In the present investigation, melt-in-mouth tablets were successfully formulated via effervescent technique and characterized for pre-compression and post-compression parameters. Thus, it can be concluded that this dosage form may prove to be very beneficial in CINV patients.
