TLC AND HPTLC SCREENING OF SIDDHA POLY HERBAL FORMULATION VISHAMIRTHA CHOORANAM

ABSTRACT

Vishamirtha Chooranam have been in use in Indian traditional medicine, ‘Siddha’ since antiquity. However, there has been no attempt to standardize. Chromatographic fingerprint symbolize the active chemical constituents of herbal medicines for desired therapeutic action. This study presents a simple, rapid and selective HPTLC method for the quantitative estimation of Chemical Compounds of Vishamirtha Chooranam, detection and quantification were performed densitometric ally at 366nm. Rf value of the peaks ranges from 0.08 to 0.45. Further the peak 1 occupies the major percentage of area of 72.32 % which denotes the abundant existence of such chemical compound. Followed by this peak 3 and 2 occupies the percentage area of 20.87 and 06.80 %.
