ANTI DIABETIC ACTIVITY OF THE ETHANOL AND AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF THE LEAVES OF SEARSIA MYSORENSIS ON ALLOXAN INDUCED DIABETIC ALBINO RATS

ABSTRACT

The present investigation reports the anti-diabetic activity of Searsia mysorensis on alloxan induced diabetic albino rats. Evaluation of antidiabetic activity using Alloxan induced hyperglycemia model The observed hypolipidemic effect may be because of decreased cholesterogenesis and fatty acids. Significantly lowering the total cholesterol and raise in HDL Cholesterol is a very desirable biochemical status for prevention of atherosclerosis and ischemic conditions. the results shows that administration of Searsia mysorensis extract increases the HDL level in treated group significantly in dose deponent manner.
