DIFFERENT TYPES OF NASYA KARMA IN CURRENT PRACTICE - A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Nasya is the administration of different types of medicines through the nasal passage in a systematic manner. It is administered in a wide variety of diseases and specifically in urdwajatrugata vikaras. Nasya is categorized into many types according to different acharyas. In present day, administration is in many forms like Marsha, Pratimarsha, Pradhamana, Avapida, Dhooma and as Nasapana. The diverse forms of administration are not so familiar and uniform all along the country. Various text books and journals were searched and screened to get details regarding the different types of nasya karma which is in practice currently. Nasya is observed from research study point of view and its efficacy is noted. Different medicinal forms like powder, oil and aqueous have different methods of action through the nasal passage. Overall the procedure requires that a universal standardization be developed for its proper uniform execution.
