ABSTRACT
The novel transition metal complexes of [M(L)2(H2O)2]X2, M = Mn(II) 1, Co(II) 2, Ni(II) 3, Cu(II) 4 and Zn(II) 5, L = 2-Methylisonicotinohydrazide, X = NO3- have been synthesized from 2-Methylisonicotinohydrazide drug (L) moiety. Synthesized metal complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductance and spectroscopic (UV-Vis., IR, NMR, EPR, CV and TGA) techniques. In these complexes 1-5, the geometry of transition metal ions was described as octahedral. The redox properties of the complexes were extensively investigated by electrochemical method using cyclic voltammetry (CV). The complexes 2 and 4 exhibited quasi-reversible single electron transfer process where as complexes 1, 3 and 5 shown two redox peaks of quasi-reversible one electron transfer process. Besides these complexes was screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities against various microorganisms.
