Abstract
EFFECT OF AZOLLA INCLUSION ON SEROLOGICAL PROFILE OF WHITE PEKIN BROILER DUCKS

ABSTRACT

A feeding trial was conducted to determine the effect of Azolla inclusion on serological profile of white pekin ducks. Experimental birds divided in to three groups such as G1 as control group given basal diet and G2 given basal diet + 5% Azolla and G3 given basal diet +10% Azolla. Blood samples were collected on 42nd day of the experiment and serum sample were tested for glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, total protein, albumin, globulin, urea, creatinine, calcium, phosphorus, total alkaline phosphatase (ALP), SGOT, SGPT. The result showed that there was no significant difference in serum biochemical parameters among the groups. So it was concluded that Azolla supplementation has no deleterious effect on host organs and can be substituted with costly protein sources for reduction in cost of production.
