INGREDIENTS IDENTIFICATION AND PHRAMACEUTICAL EVALUATION OF-MADHUPIPPALYADI YOGA -AN AYURVEDIC POLYHERBAL FORMULATION

ABSTRACT
Oral Submucous Fibrosis is a chronic diseases of the oral cavity which resulting from the habit of chewing Areca nut, Pan masala, Gutakha, Tobacco and related products. Madhupippalyadi Yoga is a compound Ayurvedic formulation which not mentioned in classical text. Madhupippalyadi Yoga having a six contents like Madhu, Pippali, Gairika, Jati, Haridra, Yastimadhu. This drug used as a local treatment in Pratisarana form. Pharmacognostical and analytical study has been carried out for the evaluation of its efficacy in the management of OSMF. Pharmacognocy study showed that Crystal fibres of Yastimadhu, Starch grain of Yastimadhu, Pitted vessels of Yastimadhu ,Stone cell of Pippali, Orange color content of Gairik, Oil globule of Jati were identified. Analytical study showed 5 spots at 254nm and 4 spots at 366nm.
