Since Long time Balachaturbhadradi Yoga has been used as Anubhuta Yoga in OPD Kaumarbhritya dept. I.P.G.T & R.A Jamnagar & it has shown excellent result in Pratishyaya and other respiratory diseases also. Ingredients of Balchaturbhadradi Yoga are acting also individually on respiratory system like Balchaturbhadra, Sitopaladi, Yashtimadhu(Glycyrrhiza glabra), Guduchi(Tinospora cordifolia wild.), Haridra (Curcuma longa Linn.), Shunthi(Zingiber officinalale Roscoe.), Vasa(Adhatoda vasica Nees.). No any documentation available regarding Pharmaceutics & Pharmacognostical evaluation of Balchaturbhadradi Yoga Till date. The present study was carried out to standardize the finished product to establish its identity and quality. Present drug was prepared in the Pharmacy, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, by following Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) of preparation of Churna. The presence of Annular and scalriform vessels of Ativisha, Perisperm cells of Ela, Spiral vessels of Twaka, Lignified collenchymas cells of Guduchi, Crystal fiber of Yashtimadhu, were the characteristic features observed in powdered microscopy of drug. Physicochemical analysis shows 7.35% w/w loss on drying, 24% w/w water soluble extract and 5.36pH. High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) showed 13& 10 spots at 254 & 366 nm. These data shows the presence of definite constituents of ingredients of Balchaturbhadradi Yoga and hence these research data can be used as fingerprinting of this Yoga in future.
