Abstract
REVIEW ON VARIOUS ASPECTS OF VARICOSE VEIN AS PER AYURVEDA AND MODERN SCIENCE

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda the glory of Indian wisdom described ways of healthy living and well being, in this regards ayurveda elaborated causes, symptoms and treatment of many pathological conditions. Ayurveda also emphasized on anatomical health issues and varicose veins is one such health complaint which mainly observes in peoples those involved in specific occupation of continuous sedentary life style like seating job, multiple pregnancies , prolong riding and standing postures for long period, etc. The prevalence of varicose vein is higher in multi parous women than other factors. Ayurveda resembles varicose veins as Siraja Granthi in which blood veins become enlarged with or without painful sensation. According to Father of surgery, Sushruta mentioned Siragata Vata is the initial condition of Siraj Granthi and Aacharya Dalhana explained as Kutila Sira. Ayurveda suggested different therapeutic modalities for the management of such conditions including wrapping the limb with cloth, Massage or Abhyanga with oil, bloodletting, therapeutic enema, local application of various drugs and oral uses of natural remedies, etc. The current working pattern imparting burden of such health issues due to the excessive physical stress. Therefore present article exploring various integrated aspects of varicose veins in a view to spread awareness about such type of health problems.
